Our Editorial Mission
NewsPositive exists to highlight stories about progress, solutions, innovation, people, well-being, the planet and positive change.
Our goal is not to ignore difficult realities or present an unrealistically optimistic view of the world. Instead, we aim to broaden the news landscape by giving more attention to developments that show what is improving, what is working, and who is making a meaningful difference.
We believe readers deserve journalism that can inform without leaving them feeling powerless.
Accuracy Comes First
Positive news should still be accurate news.
We aim to publish content that is grounded in reliable information, credible sources and responsible research.
Where factual claims, statistics or current developments are included, we make reasonable efforts to verify them before publication.
We do not knowingly publish false, misleading or fabricated information.
Constructive, Not Naive
NewsPositive focuses on progress, but we do not believe every story needs to have a happy ending.
Constructive journalism means looking beyond the problem itself.
Where appropriate, we ask:
What is improving?
What solutions are being tested?
Who is making progress?
What can others learn from it?
We may acknowledge challenges, limitations or uncertainty when they are necessary to understand the full story.
Original Content
We aim to publish original NewsPositive articles rather than copying or reproducing work from other publications.
Our articles may draw upon publicly available research, reports, official information and other credible sources, but the writing, structure and editorial presentation should be original.
When another source contributes materially to a factual story, we aim to identify or link to that source where appropriate.
Sources and Verification
We prefer trustworthy and relevant sources, including:
- Official organizations and public institutions
- Academic and scientific publications
- Established nonprofit organizations
- Reputable news organizations
- Primary documents and reports
- Recognized experts and organizations with direct knowledge of the subject
For fast-moving or uncertain stories, we may update content as new information becomes available.
Corrections
We take accuracy seriously.
If we discover a meaningful factual error, we aim to correct it promptly.
Readers who believe an article contains an error are encouraged to contact us at:
Please include the article title, URL and the information you believe requires correction.
Headlines and Images
Headlines should accurately reflect the substance of the article.
We avoid intentionally misleading, sensational or exaggerated headlines designed only to generate clicks.
Images may be original, licensed, supplied by contributors or created using digital and AI-assisted tools.
Illustrative or AI-generated imagery should not be presented in a way that falsely implies it is photographic evidence of a specific real-world event.
Artificial Intelligence
NewsPositive may use artificial intelligence tools to assist with parts of the editorial workflow, including research support, brainstorming, drafting assistance, translation, editing and visual creation.
AI tools do not replace editorial responsibility.
Content should be reviewed for accuracy, relevance, clarity and appropriateness before publication.
We do not knowingly use AI to fabricate quotes, sources, people, events or evidence and present them as real.
Sponsored Content
NewsPositive may publish paid or sponsored editorial content.
Sponsored articles are clearly identified as Sponsored Content, Partner Content, or with another appropriate disclosure so readers can distinguish commercial material from independent editorial coverage.
Payment does not guarantee positive independent editorial coverage.
More information is available in our Sponsored Content Policy.
Advertising
Advertising helps support NewsPositive, but advertisers do not control our independent editorial decisions.
Display advertising and commercial partnerships should be clearly distinguishable from editorial content.
We reserve the right to decline advertising that conflicts with our standards, audience or editorial values.
Contributors and Submitted Stories
We welcome story suggestions, contributor pitches and information about people, projects and initiatives making a positive difference.
Submission does not guarantee publication.
NewsPositive reserves the right to edit, fact-check, shorten, decline or remove submitted material when necessary.
Contributors should only submit work they have the right to provide.
Independence
Our editorial decisions are guided by relevance, accuracy, usefulness and alignment with the NewsPositive mission.
Advertisers, sponsors, partners and contributors do not receive editorial control over independent NewsPositive coverage unless the content is explicitly identified as sponsored or partner material.
Respect and Fairness
We aim to treat people and communities with dignity.
We avoid unnecessary humiliation, dehumanizing language and sensational treatment of vulnerable individuals.
Where a story involves disagreement, controversy or competing perspectives, we aim to describe relevant viewpoints fairly and accurately.
Privacy
We respect personal privacy and aim to avoid publishing unnecessary private information.
We are especially cautious when stories involve children, vulnerable individuals or people who may not reasonably expect public exposure.
Updates
This Editorial Policy may evolve as NewsPositive grows.
Any significant changes will be reflected on this page.
